Professional experience
Many scholarships available from government agencies, private foundations, schools and professional organizations support students in gaining experiences and knowledge in preparation for their careers. Professional experience refers to the knowledge and skills gained through working, often complementing your academics or supporting your future career path. This can be through internships, a part-time or full-time position, research, independent consulting, or volunteer work.
Some of these scholarships might be providing funding and educational opportunities to create pathways into specific professional areas, and are looking to support students who wouldn't otherwise have easy access to those pathways.
Other scholarships might be providing funding for students who have already determined the professional route they want to take.
In either case, you'll need to plan ahead (at least a year in advance) to take full advantage of these opportunities!
