I am from Seattle Washington and I am a transfer student at the UW, earning my undergraduate in construction management. I have in the construction industry for many years as a carpenter. Over my years working in the trades, I developed leadership and organizational skills through being mentored by experienced construction managers. Through earning my degree I intend to work on large scale construction projects and/or developing affordable housing, by expanding my knowledge and building my network through the University of Washington.

Goals

Make it through school with as little debt as possible, find a job and commit to an aggressive short-term repayment plan to minimize any interest on any outstanding student loans.

Tips

Consistent weekly time blocks devoted to seeking and applying for scholarships. I found that motivation is hard to come by when the reward is uncertain or far away. By committing time to the process, it becomes habit, and habits are what lead to success, not short-term motivation.
