Mark Platonov
Mark Platonov is an undergraduate in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His primary academic focus is in computational modeling and optimization of dynamic metamaterial structures, particularly for damage detection applications, alongside research in guidance, navigation, and control for advanced mission architectures. A major motivation behind Mark’s academic path is curiosity, and research has given him an outlet to continuously explore difficult problems in a meaningful way. He enjoys the process of learning across disciplines and applying concepts from mathematics and physics to create practical solutions for aerospace applications. Mark applied for research scholarships to support his undergraduate research projects and further develop as a researcher as he prepares for graduate school. Beyond financial support, he sees these scholarships as an opportunity to gain credibility within the research community and connect with mentors and peers who are similarly driven to advance science and engineering.
Goals
Mark intends to pursue a PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering with a focus on autonomous aerospace systems, computational modeling, and advanced space technologies.
