Major: Social Welfare and Educational Studies
Pronouns: She/Her
Hometown: Sunnyside, WA

I am currently graduating with a Bachelors degree in Social Welfare and Educational Studies with a minor in Diversity. My academic interests center around therapy services for families and understanding how social, emotional and environmental factors affect family well-being. I am passionate about learning how therapeutic interventions and family-centered support services can strengthen relationships and promote healthier outcomes for both children and parents. Outside of academics, I enjoy activities that help me maintain balance and connection with my community and loved ones. I enjoy hikes, bible study, wellness walks and overall spending time outdoors, especially days by the water! My motivation for applying for this scholarship comes from my educational goals. Pursuing higher education requires significant financial resources, and receiving financial assistance as much as possible would lighten the financial burden, and allow me to focus on my studies and community involvement. In the near term, the scholarship would help cover educational expenses and allow me to continue building my knowledge and experience through community engagement. In the long term, this scholarship will help me move closer to my goal of working in therapy and support services for families. This scholarship is not only an investment in my education but also in the positive impact I hope to make in the lives of families and the community!

Goals

My near-term goal is to begin my Master of Social Welfare program in the coming months with a clinical specialization, where I can further develop the knowledge and skills needed to support individuals and families. My long-term goal is to become a licensed therapist, providing care and services that help families navigate their challenges and improve their mental well-being.

Tips

My advice to future students applying for this scholarship or others is to be authentic and intentional in sharing your story. Take time to reflect on experiences, values and clearly connect them to your educational, career plans. Most importantly, don't underestimate your experiences or the challenges you have overcome. Whether that's through academics, family, faith, your journey matters! Be confident in sharing how those experiences have shaped your educational plans.
